KALINDIKHAL PASS:


Kalindikhal Pass is a high altitude pass located in the Gharwal Himalayas at an elevation of 5950m at base of Kalindikhal peak. This pass connect Gangotri and Badrinath Dham.

The Kalindikhal Pass Trek is one of the most difficult treks of Uttararkhand. 


The Journey starting from the Bhagirathi valley (Gangotri) takes you to Gaumukh, the mouth of Gangotri glacier from where river Ganga originates. From Gaumukh, you will ascent to Tapovan and Nandanvan through glacial crevasses.
You'll get to see the mesmerizing views of the Bhagirathi groups of peaks and the Shivling peak from here. You'll move forward to Vasuki Taal by crossing narrow ridges and an ice wall. 
You will cross through Suralya Bamak and Sweta glacier to reach Kalindikhal Pass, the base Kalindi peak. After climbing Kalindi summit, you'll start your downward journey to Area Tal and MANA village.

If you are an avid trekker on Indian Himalayas and hanging around for some time, Kalindikhal Trek has been surely ringing in your ears by now. A trek like Kalindikhal has plenty of overwhelming reasons to bentur our and at the same time needs detailed understanding of the trail, adequate experience, and last but not least- a suitable weather window to safely complete this epic trek. 

Apart from endless peak panorama, this trail literally traverses through the very base of high Himalayan peaks i.e.,  Shivling (6543m), Vasuki Parbat (6792m), Satopanth (7075m), Chandra parbat (6728m), Avalanche peak (6796m) and more. Green patch of Nandanvan meadows set a contrast in the barren landscape.

The trail initially starts from Gangotri and goes steadily inside Gangotri glacial valley upstream along Bhagirathi river. This is a trail to follow glacier and hopping on moraines. You will witness dangerously beautiful glaciers in all forms and colours possible from rocky debris and black ice to pristine blue ice. The major glaciers enroute are Gangotri, Raktavarna, Chaturangi, Shweta and Raj Parav.

NOTE: 14days are minimum for this trekking expedition from Gangotri-Badrinat.


Seasons for Kalindikhal Trek:

The best time for Kalindikhal Pass Trek is between the summer and monsoon months from mid-June to early-sep.

Summers:

The weather remains extremely pleasent during summera with clear blue skies, distinct views of Himalayan Peaks and soothing cool breeze.

Monsoons:

The entire forests, meadows, and valleys come to live during monsoons. The wild flowers, the green grasses and leaves, and the entire route look surreal and magical. The weather remains pleasent during this time.

15days budget trek of Kalindikhal is approx. 

Rs 90,000 to 1,40,000. 

NOTE: The price this trek is tentative only and may vary due to seasons, services required and number of persons. Cost will be higher for foreigners.
